Our visit to the Arrowtown Museum

At the Arrowtown Museum there is an old schoolhouse from 1863.
There is a teacher Miss Gray.  She is very stern and strict.
She checked our nails were clean and our necks.
The boys had to hand out all the slate boards.
Miss Gray was scary.  She made us all recite a poem over and over again.
We were not allowed to to say a word.
We all got to dress up like the children in the old days.
We learnt heaps about what it was like in a real school house.

Sketching

Today we sketched the old school bell and the cart at the end of the field.
We looked very closely at different parts and made sure we sketched as much
detail as possible.
We will be selling our sketches at the Gala day on Saturday.

We have had the most memorable and amazing day at Arrowtown school today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARROWTOWN SCHOOL

Look at these amazing photos.  We all stepped back in time to experience a day in the life of an Arrowtown child 150 years ago.

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS - ARROWTOWN SCHOOL

WHAT A FANTASTIC TIME AT ARROWTOWN SCHOOL.
WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR SCHOOLS 150TH YEAR!

We have been learning about what school life was like
150 years ago at Arrowtown school.
Things were very different.  Tomorrow we will be
going back 150 years to experience what school
was like.  We are all dressing up like the children and
teachers would have back in those days.
Many of us are walking to school or coming by
horse/pony to school.
We are going to experience a "slice" of the past for
the day.
